Step 3: Check Google Search Console to see if you rank for similar terms, add them to the list

 

There was nothing to add to this from Google Search Console on this occasion. If we were writing about Instagram, Periscope or Snapchat then we could have added a few variations on keywords that are already bringing organic traffic to our website.

Step 4: Use Soovle to determine longtail versions

 

Soovle is a free application that shows the autofill of the search engines of Google, Yahoo, Bing, YouTube, Amazon and more on the one screen.

 

In this instance we started with searching “keyword”, then “keyword research“, followed by “keyword research for” and finally “keyword research for bl“.

As we are looking to rank no.1 on Google for the organic terms, take each article and investigate it with Spyfu. There is a paid version of this software, we are using the free version.

 

We simply take the URL of each of the top articles on the front page of Google and analyse them.

Step 6: Use Moz to determine the Keywords with the most potential (Free Trial)

 

Now we have our list of keywords, it’s time to assess them! Setup a free trial account with Moz.
