How One Piece of Content Changed My Life

That piece of content changed my life

It’s not too often you will hear someone utter those exact words, or even something close to that. However, one piece of content literally changed my life.

No it didn’t make me rich or super famous and by the time I had finished writing it, I was still sitting in my armchair at 3am, unable to sleep.

Not very many people read what I had to say, in fact I wrote it in a word document and had to send it to Paul to upload to the website. So if it was not for him, nobody would have read it.

It wasn’t the best article you have ever read, it was full of errors i’m sure, but it was mine, I wrote it, I gave my opinion on the the matter and I was proud as punch.

That was quite some time ago now and thankfully I have learnt how to upload my own content. However all joking a side, from that day on my life changed.

How my life changed

I was hooked to blogging, websites, business, social media, basically anything that I could learn that would have a positive impact on the website,  I learnt. It give me a sense of purpose, something which in hindsight I think was missing from my life at the time, it thought me that I was capable of so much more.

From that one article a great many things came, things that I would not have had the opportunity to do. I have written about football for a national and well known newspaper, I have been live on national radio talking about my passion and I have built a business that I never knew I could.

Of course when I say “I” what I mean is “we”, there are two of us in this, but you get my meaning. That is how one piece of content changed my life.

That view on how one piece of content can change a life is something I hold close to me every time I sit in front of the computer, the microphone or the camera. It is something that makes me think properly about what I am about to do and the impact I want my content to have on my audience,

I am not saying that I am out to change the world with my content, but what I am out to do is to change the notion that it is just a video, it is just an article, it is just a podcast.

The next piece of content you create could be the one that changes your life. It could be the one that resonates the most with your audience, it could prompt major change in the life of one of your readers.

We as a human race love stories, that is how we learn, how we communicate and how we entertain.

The next time that you feel like you don’t want to write that article, make that video, record that podcast, think about how you are denying not only yourself, but your audience of possibly changing. Be it their life as a whole or a small aspect of their day to day.

So don’t be selfish, get out there, write poorly, record bad video’s, make terrible podcasts, because you never know where you could end up or how it could touch a life.

Thanks Phil for reminding me that writing that one more blog post isn’t about me but about doing it for my audience and who I might be able to help.

      Your Welcome Cheryl.

I think it’s important that we as content creators remember who we are creating the content for and what the impact that content can have on a person, not just the impact we want it to have.
