When it comes to promoting your content on social media, be it Facebook, Twitter, Instagram ect, it can sometimes fell like we are banging our head against a brick wall.
With that in mind did you know that having relevant and compelling social media images to go along with your updates will dramatically improve not only your interaction, but also the chances of your update being shared.
You see we spend the time to consider the message we want to put out on our various social platforms. From the attention grabbing headline, the body copy and even the links we want to share. Yet it seems as though we are being drowned out by the constant noise and fast paced movement of our followers social media feeds.
One minute our tweet or update is at the top of their time line, 60 second later we a buried under hundreds of other tweets or status updates, never to be seen again. It is a real and constant battle we as content creators face, but there are ways of getting noticed in such a fast moving enviorment.
This is what I want to show you, how you can create fantastic social media images. Not just for Facebook or Twitter, for all social platforms, you can even create images for blog posts, webinars and video’s all at once and in minutes.
Social Media Images
- Tweets with images received 150% more retweets than tweets without images.
- Facebook posts with images see 2.3X more engagement than those without images.
- Visual content is more than 40X more likely to get shared on social media than other types of content.
- Content with relevant images gets 94% more views than content without relevant images.
So it would seem that having compelling social media images to go with your content is the way to go and it makes sense right! I mean how often have you been flicking through Facebook or Twitter only to be stopped in your tracks by a picture or a video?
This is something at this point that almost all marketers realise (I hope), yet fail to do successfully. One of the main reason people don’t spend time on their social media images is of course the master of everything “Time”.
Many bloggers and business owners especially solopreneur’s just don’t have the time in the day to be creating visually compelling images to go with every status update or every article they share and even for articles they write.
While it is difficult to put an exact figure on it in terms of worldwide bloggers, I can say that the vast majority of bloggers I have spoken to have all told me that they wished they had more time to create better, more compelling social media images. Many also wished they could take some time away from the daily demands of their business to learn how to up their game with masterful social media images.
Now before I go any further, I should point out that if creating compelling images to accompany your social media updates is not something you either have the time or the inclination to do, then you should outsource them. Be that as it may, this is not always possible. Whether it is due to the urgency of the requirement or indeed for budgetary reason, sometimes you just have to roll your sleeves up and do it yourself.
Create all the Social Media images you want!
Recently I have had the pleasure of using Relay That, which allows you to easily make captivating and engaging images. The beauty of it is that Relay has many features the likes of Canva and Snappa don’t.
When it comes to creating social media images on Relay it really couldn’t be easier. Now that said there is a bit of leg work in setting it up to create images for every platform imaginable, but once that is done, it’s magic.
Rather than go through a full tutorial myself I have deferred to the good people over at Relay to show you exactly what you can do with it, but before you get to the video, have a look at just some of the images that I created having only entered the details once!
So below are just some of the social media images I was able to create to help with the promotional side of my previous article entitles “ 3 Great ways To Use IFTTT to Automate Twitter”. As you can see they are very professional looking and some even include a call to action.
As you can see there are some really good images there. I can use these for promoting the article and with the ability to select which platform I want them for, Relay will automatically size them for me.
There is one minor problem however, something this good doesn’t come for free. Relay costs $12 a month but there is a 14 day free trial. However I have sneaking suspicion that like me after using it for two weeks, you will happily hand over the 12 bucks.
Anyway as I said the good people over a Relay have put together a video showing you exactly what can be done with it. Have a look at the video and tell me it will not make your life a hell of a lot easier when it comes to creating great social media images.
