One of the biggest questions many businesses ask themselves is: “How to we get our name out there?”
This, of course, is often easier said than done, but one way that you can do it is by making your existing audience pay for your promotion on social media!
Now I should clarify this when I say “pay”, I don’t actually mean with cold hard cash. That would be nice although I am not sure that too many of your followers would be willing to pay for your social media campaign!
Instead what we want to do is give them a value proposition. It is very simple, you have something they want and in order for them to get it, they have to pay. So rather than ask them to hand over cash, what we are going to do is ask them to promote our business or website for us.
It is very much along the lines of “lead magnet” when it comes to giving your customer what they want in exchange for their email address, only this time we want them to send a tweet.
What is the tweet? Well that my friend is the beauty of it, we get to decide what they tweet, it’s magic.
So in order for us to do this, we must, of course, offer something of value to our audience, be it an ebook, a PDF, a how-to video, what every it is, our audience must, of course, want it.
Now I am not going to get bogged down on what exactly the “value proposition” should, I am sure that you will be able to come up with some sort of valuable content to offer you audience.
But what I do want to show you is how easy it is to do!
Pay with a Tweet
We are going to be using a website called “Pay With a Tweet” and as the name suggest that is exactly what we want our audience to do. So head on over to PayWithATweet.com and go ahead and sign up and link your twitter account.
Once we have done that we should be taken to our dashboard, now if this is the first time you have done this then you will see a big button in the middle of the screen that says “Create your first campaign”, go ahead and click on that.
This is where we want to fill out the details of our campaign. As you can see it is fairly self-explanatory, the only thing that can be a little tricky is figuring out what you want your “Buyer” to Tweet.
Composing the Tweet
In terms of composing the tweet, there are a couple of things that you should bare in mind:
- You will want to have your own twitter name in the tweet.
- Only type your message, do not include any links.
- Due to the nature of also having to fill in your website address, bare in mind that your message may want to include ” Click Here”
- You will want to entice others to click the link, so tell them what they might get.
- Finally, all this has to be done in 110 characters, not 140 as per normal, so take some time to play around with it and get your message right.
- Because the tweet that is sent out has not only your website URL but the URL of the link to get you offer, it is best to make both links the same.
There are as you can also see “Advanced options” these can be set to limit the amount of “products” you are giving away or for how long the offer will stay live for, but for the moment they are not really necessary. After all, we do not want to limit the amount of exposure we could potentially get from this.
Reviewing the Campaign
Now once we have all that information filled out, we get to review our campaign. As you can see from the preview box on the bottom left of the image above, this is what our audience will see once they click on the offer.
Once we confirm we will get the following links, this is where your own feelings on how it should look come in. There are options to customise how the “Pay with a tweet” button looks, but for those options, you do have to sign up for a paid membership. However, there is a way around this and here is how you can make your “Button” look however you want!
Linking the Campaign
If you take a look at the top we can see “Direct link to campaign”. This is the direct URL of the campaign that pops up once they hit “pay with a tweet.
So what we want to do here is copy that URL and then create our own image that we want people to see and make that image clickable. That way we can put the “Direct link to campaign” in the link of the new image and it will automatically redirect users to our campaign once they click on the image.
I have created a short tutorial video to show you how to not only programme “Pay with a Tweet” but also in embedding your own image wth your “Direct Link” for the campaign and to check that out all you have to do is click the image below!
Yup you guessed it, it is a “Pay with a Tweet” link, so you can also see how it should look.
